Eli's World

Without a doubt, one of my favorite things about living over here is the opportunity for our kids to attend the International School Basel, where they are exposed to, and have become increasingly understanding and respectful of, cultural diversity.

As part of an "Our World" unit of inquiry, the Kindergarten students were recently asked to prepare a 20 minute presentation for their class about the country they call home. Eli was really eager to prepare and practice his presentation about the United States (with a heavy focus on baseball), and Ben and I were amazed at how confidently he presented to his class. I smiled with pride throughout the presentation, and shed a few tears when Ethan joined Eli in front of the class to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game". The students all gave Eli a smiley face in their evaluations of his presentation; giving out ice cream sundaes probably didn't hurt!
